What's Your Key to Individual Success?Posted by in education minutes, BNI |
|
When you get into a car, what’s the first thing you should do?
You put the key in the ignition, then the engine revs up...then the journey starts. So, in your life, what's your key to individual success?
The most important single factor in individual success is COMMITMENT.
Because before you can start working on anything, you must first be committed to it, so you can dedicate your time, energy and resources to it. Commitment ignites action and it is demonstrated by a combination of two activities, which can be applied within the chapter.
The first activity is called supporting. Genuine support develops a commitment in the minds and hearts of your fellow members. You focus on what is important and leading by example. Concentrate on what adds value, spotlight what's working, and acknowledge those who have made valuable contributions.
The second activity is called improving. Improving stretches our commitment to an even higher level. Commitment means being willing to look for a better way and to learn from the process. To be a great chapter, we must discourage complacency, and be brave enough to confront what is not working and do something about it.
When you signed up as a member of BNI Rendezvous, did you buy a membership to a club, or was it a commitment you made to yourself, your business and your fellow members? Always remember that commitment is a two-way street. You only get it if you are willing to give it.
There is an old saying that goes, "Stand for something or you'll fall for anything."
So my question to you, members - what do you stand for in this chapter? Identify what you are championing and practice it, so that everyone knows what you stand for and most of all, what you are committed to as an individual, and in BNI Rendezvous.
